Fiumefreddo, girl dies after a visit to the doctor’s office, an investigation opened. She had gotten sick at a party

They want to see clearly the parents of Chiara La Spina the eighteen year old who died last Tuesday after she felt bad at a party with a friend in Fiumefreddo di Sicilia (Catania). For this reason they presented a complaint and asked the lawyer Claudio Fiume to represent them in the investigation that the Catania prosecutor had started, arranging the autopsy, and to doctor Pietro Piccirillo, as coroner, to attend the autopsy examination.

Last Tuesday Chiara participated in a party organized by a friend at home. Something is wrong in the evening. The girl calls her father telling him to go get her because she was not well.

The man after having made her get into the car would have headed to the medical guard of Mascalucia where he would have said that his daughter suffers from allergies and therefore the illness and the consequent respiratory crisis could be due to that. At the doctor’s office, however, the doctors, according to her parent, would have treated the girl as if she had had a panic attack and would have given her an anxiolytic. But Chiara did not recover, she would have lost consciousness. At that point she was called an ambulance but the rush to the emergency room in Acireale was useless because she died.

The news has thrown into despair the town of nine thousand inhabitants on the sea between Catania and Messina, Chiara’s relatives and friends. Her parents, who have two other daughters, went to the carabinieri signing a detailed statement in which they would point the finger at the doctors who would not have taken into due consideration the patient’s discomfort. The file reached the prosecutor who ordered the autopsy, stopping the funeral scheduled for last Friday afternoon.

The ASP of Catania has decided not to comment on the affair “until it has a complete picture of the situation”.

Many posts on Facebook about Chiara’s premature death. A close friend of hers and the same age writes: “As you said” my sister “.. you left a void in our hearts .. I still can’t believe it … now you too will be a beautiful angel .. Chiara La Spina I want you a lot of good sister rest in peace .. I will never forget all the laughs and moments spent together “.

Both the former mayor Sebastiano Nucifora and the new mayor Angelo Torrisi wrote messages of condolence for “the painful and untimely death of Chiara La Spina. The Fiumefreddese, just 18 years old, flew to heaven too soon”.
