A journalistic award in the name of hospitality and integration. Just as she would have wished Christian Matanothe journalist from Campania – but now Palermo by adoption – who left too early in 2015. An award that is assigned from 8 to 10 July in Lampedusa, the island that Cristiana loved more than any other place in the world and which, for her , it only meant one thing: “Happiness”.
The event, organized by the “Occhiblu” Association chaired by Filippo Mulè, journalist and husband of Cristiana Matano, was presented at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. It will be an edition full of guests and appointments: at the opening Paolo Briguglia with “In the sea there are crocodiles”, then Daniele Silvestri and Lidia Schillaci, the violinists Oleksandr Semchuk and Ksenia Milas, the comedian and imitator Leonardo Fiaschi, up to the ceremony of awarding of the selected works.
A rich exchange between those who come and those who, on the other hand, live in Lampedusa, the pleasure of being there: this is the sense of Lampedus’amore, an event where words of peace, brotherhood, coexistence, integration and welcome resound, where contamination , sharing, openness, discussion and dialogue represent the red thread that binds organizers, guests and the public. An opportunity for reflection with a common denominator: Cristiana’s same attention to the southern hemisphere, her same commitment to pursue a passion.

“Also this year – commented Mulè – we managed to set up a rich and varied program of quality, continuing to give physicality to our dreams and to ensure the presence of personalities and artists of great depth. Being together, discussing, reflecting, smiling, betting and taking risks: there is all this in the seventh edition of Lampedus’Amore-Cristiana Matano international journalistic prize, there is the desire to celebrate life which is the art of encounter, but above all there is the desire to continue remembering and telling. Let’s start again from beauty, from the values of solidarity and culture, addressing the issues of integration between peoples, social commitment and good journalism. It will be three days that will put love at the center of everything and will launch a strong message of peace and freedom at a time when, not too many kilometers away from us, a devastating conflict is taking place “.
For the superintendent of the Teatro Massimo Marco Betta “It is nice to continue in the wake of a collaboration that has lasted for years between a journalistic award and a place, the Teatro Massimo, keeper of ideas. Lampedus’amore is dedicated to a journalist, Cristiana Matano, who died prematurely, and she could only put the importance of observing reality with all her problems at the center of her programming. Every reporter is a writer of reality. And, like a prism, even the Teatro Massimo and his works do nothing but reflect on our time, reinterpreting it ”.
Lampedus’Amore – Cristiana Matano International Journalistic Award is sponsored by the European Parliament, the Sicilian Region (Tourism, Sport and Entertainment Department), the Sicilian Regional Assembly, the Municipality of Lampedusa, the National Tourism Agency, the National Order of Journalists, from the Order of Journalists of Sicily, from the National Federation of the Press, from Assostampa Sicily and Palermo and from Ussi
