In Lucca the Festival of the Planet. A revolution for sustainability

Ecosystems, biodiversity, green finance, geopolitics of energy, agriculture and food, urban development, resources, sustainable mobility within and in the confrontation of new political, social, philosophical and artistic visions. They are the themes of Planet Earth Festivalthe review that will be held in Lucca from 6 to 9 October, directed by Stefano Mancusodesigned and organized by Laterza Publishers and promoted by the Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca Foundation.

The festival will take place in some of the most evocative buildings of Lucca, such as the Church of San Francesco, Palazzo Ducale, the Botanical Garden. Over 50 appointments planned to meet and listen to women and men committed to environmental protection or have made an important scientific contribution.

During the four days of the exhibition, we will discuss the impact of man on the planet, on the damage that the human species continues to produce, but also on possible strategies to safeguard the Earth and to become more aware citizens. The Planet Earth project aims to contribute to the creation of individual critical thinking and a responsible and informed public opinion regarding the environment.

Among the announced guests, scientists, anthropologists, philosophers, economists, architects, urban planners, historians, writers, artists, innovators, policy makers. Some names: Raj Patel, economist, activist and scholar of food policies; Esther Duflo, Nobel Prize for Economics; Riccardo Valentini forest ecology expert and member of IPCC; Carlo Carraroenvironmental economist, former President of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists; Valeria Terminiexpert in European and international energy policy;

It’s still, Barbara Mazzolai who directs the Micro-Biorobotics Center of the Italian Institute of Technology; Simonetta Cheli, Director of Earth Observation Programs of the European Space Agency (ESA); Roberto Danovaro, marine biologist and President of the Anton Dohrn Zoological Station.
