The Frentana Music Summer with respect for the environment

Defined as a city of music, Lanciano, in the province of Chieti, has been organizing the season of the “Estate Musicale Frentana” (EMF) since 1971 combined with international music courses that have always represented the deepest identity of the festival with the presence of young people from not only from Italy to participate in jazz, guitar, flute and orchestral training seminars. The 2022 Lancianese music festival, with the artistic direction of Andrea Tenaglia, opens on June 19 at the Parco delle Arti Musicali with the concert “Music for nature” with pieces by Astor Piazzolla and Camille Saint-Saens, performed by the Avis Ensemble directed by Mario Montore.
“Music for nature” will be the dominant theme of this new edition of Lanciano to educate respect for the environment with music. “Riciclando in Opera” and “Riciclando in ballo” are the two special educational events with which an opera and a classical ballet are reinterpreted in a contemporary key with original settings made with recyclable products in collaboration with the students of the artistic high school “Giuseppe Palizzi ”That will give free rein to their creativity and manual skills essential for the realization of such a show.
The theme of environmental sustainability together with the return of the Jazz sessions, with maestro Walter Gaeta on 3 July, will enrich the program of the EMF 2022. For the opera it will be staged on 16 July in Piazza d’Armi delle Torri Montanare Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” with the “Fedele Fenaroli” Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Massimo Spadano. For “Riciclando in Ballo” the etoile of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma Susanna Salvi will present on August 6 “Dancing under the stars” together with the ballet troupe of the “Balletto di Roma” with music by Ottorino Respighi and Igor Stravinskij.
Among the other musical events scheduled in the Frentano capital, which will extend until December, the “Grand gala of music” on June 21 for the European music festival, “Somebody to love” tribute to the music of Queen ( 25 July), and above all the various concerts dedicated to summer music courses such as that of the teachers of the Frentana Music Summer (Silvio Di Rocca, Massimo Spadano, Massimo Magri and Andrea Tenaglia), the students of the seminary for flute, choral singing, the piano review “Enrico D’Amico” and the “Masciangelo Day” with chamber arias for soprano and tenor by the Lancianese composer.

“Certainly, with more courage and a more modern vision – underlines Ersilia Caporale Vice President of the Friends of Music Association” Fedele Fenaroli “which organizes the Festival – this season could have started with even more great news that would have been able to give greater visibility to a Festival that celebrates its 51st year of life and that feels the need to open up also to younger audiences. News that, however, will not be lacking and will be able to guarantee a renewed vitality to a musical event certainly born in a golden period for the culture of the Bel Paese, but also from the happy intuitions of people who were able to go further and see what for others it was not even possible to imagine “.
Finally, a particularity that has always distinguished the Frentana Music Summer is the promotion and enhancement of the artists and workers of the area. And without forgetting that many of the young people trained in Lanciano then played in international orchestras thanks also to the presence in the summer courses of illustrious masters and conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Nino Rota and Donato Renzetti.
