ROME – Digital living room or mobile office, the cockpit of the ID. Buzz is an open space ready to welcome its occupants in the name of wide spaces, high versatility and comfort. Thanks to the use of the Meb platform, the designers were able to obtain an environment capable of offering a generous space albeit with limited external dimensions (4.71 meters long, 2.99 meters in step, 1.99 meters in width and 1 , 94 meters high).
At launch, the new all-electric van will feature five seats, two sliding side doors (electrically operated option), longitudinally adjustable rear bench and variable seat back angle. Six and seven-seater configurations will subsequently be available, with the latter having a longer wheelbase, while the boot capacity ranges from 1,121 to 2,205 liters. “We have developed a vehicle with a logical and intuitive interior concept and a variable use of space – said Jozef Kaban, head of Volkswagen design – The interior becomes a living room or a digital office, a familiar environment for our customers with their homes “. Connectivity and digitization drove the development of the ID’s interior. Buzz and users, in addition to the innovative infotainment system, have at their disposal many useful details for optimizing work or entertainment. There are up to eight USB-C ports, which allow you to quickly charge smartphones, laptops, notebooks, tablets and various mobile devices, with a capacity of up to 45 watts.
Volkswagen also offers as an option small folding tables on the backrests of the front seats to be able to work comfortably with laptops or tablets. Almost all Usb-C ports use the latest Usb Power Delivery (Usb-Pd) charging standard, three times more charging power than was previously available. In practice, a compatible office notebook with a low battery can be recharged to 50% capacity in about half an hour. In short, thanks to its numerous infotainment and connectivity functions, the ID. Buzz is a smart device on wheels. The wireless App-Connect for smartphone integration is also available as standard.
The user can therefore comfortably use the apps of their smartphone wirelessly in the native environment of the ID. Buzz via the infotainment system or via voice control, in Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible mode. Also standard is a compartment where you can place your smartphone with inductive charging function. Finally, the We Connect and We Connect Plus online services are optionally available for all variants of the ID. Buzz and are offered as standard for a limited time. Once activated, they connect the vehicle with smartphones.
