“Today I have a year of sobriety” Asia Argento writes in the post. “For those who know me, who have read my book, or who have simply followed me in these 37 years of career and public life, know that since I was a little girl I have tried to fill an innate void inside me, made of fears , egos, and character flaws, with drug abuse first, and alcohol later. I tried to drown my sorrows into oblivion but after a while they learned to float. My anxiolytics became depressants. I had already been sober from 2013 to 2016, but then I had a relapse that lasted 5 years in which I really hit rock bottom, in all senses but above all spiritually. A year and a half ago, after suffering the loss of my mother, I started practicing Nichiren Daishonin’s Buddhism and my karma began to transform, as did my thoughts, actions and words. I found the desire to stop hurting myself, to expand my consciousness. “
The actress wanted to add that the milestone has also come thanks to the help of “AA’s recovery program I have found serenity, new goals and objectives, one day at a time. I hope this ‘coming-out’ can help and encourage other employees who are still suffering. There is a solution, we can get out of it. I feel immense gratitude, and I thank the friends who walk with me the road that leads to the light. “
Then Argento added at the end of the post: “I stopped drinking one day after the third anniversary of Anthony’s death. Today my sister Anna would have turned 49. I dedicate my progress to them, and I pray for their peace.”
