In Liguria with WineAround to take a tour of the wines of Italy

The one proposed by “WineAround on the Riviera“, the enological event of regional excellences on the program on 3 and 4 June in the gardens of the Waldensian House of Vallecrosia, in the province of Imperia. Liguria, which hosts the event, will lead the way in taste in the glass, and Piedmont will also be the great protagonist.

Among the Ligurian treasures to sip there will be no shortage of Classic Method sparkling wines from native grape varieties such as Vermentino, Albarola and a rosé made from Ormeasco, a black grape variety typical of the Riviera di Ponente. Also present is the precious Moscatello di Taggia called “wine of the Popes”, a vine that has risked extinction (averted since 2003 thanks to the commitment of the producers who have come together in an association). For Piedmont, sparkling wines like Arneis, Cortese, Erbaluce, Moscato and a gem based on pure Ruchè, one of the rarest vines of the Asti Monferrato. Alongside the various declinations of Nebbiolo, such as that of Dronero, also called Chatus, a symbol of the recovery of rare vines and the difficult work of the winemakers of the pre-Alpine and foothills.

Overall it will be possible to explore the particularities of beyond 350 labels from all over Italy. At the tasting counter there is a sparkling star with a selection of tricolor bubbles from Prosecco to Franciacorta, from Trento to bubbles from indigenous grapes. And it will also be possible to make a journey among craft beers that will complete this return in the presence, much awaited after the pandemic.

“Finally after two years of emergency Covid is gradually returning to normality” explains Patrizia Biancheri, Councilor for Tourism of the Municipality of Vallecrosia, who underlines the success of the event (organized by the Municipality in collaboration with the cultural association FoodAround, the guide ViniBuoni d ‘Italy, the Il Borgo Antico e il Piemonte association) which, before the health emergency, recorded over 1,200 daily admissions. Also this year attention to solidarity with the Tuscan wine “Il Buon Sapore” of Castello di Meleto, a Chianti Classico Docg purchased to contribute to the solidarity project of the non-profit association Noi per Voi, which will receive the proceeds from the sales.
